Is Someone Hurting My Student? Identifying and Responding to VictimizationAbigail Scanga, Outreach Advocate/Counselor and Mae Palacios, Systems Advocate, at Blackburn Center, Westmoreland County’s Comprehensive Crime Center, will provide information on potential indicators that a student may be a victim of human trafficking, sexual and/or domestic violence. The presentation will focus on asking a student if they need help and how to respond if a student, or someone they care about, is being harmed. Information about Blackburn Center and other resources available for these students will be shared. Discussion is encouraged with question and answer to follow at the end. NOPE Parent Community ForumDon't wait until it happens to you. Take Action NOW! Experts explain the facts regarding the issues our youth are facing each day, including prescription drug abuse, drug interaction, signs of substance use, addiction, parenting strategies, and where to get help.
- Average age of first use is 13.04 years old.
- Each day 2,500 teens try prescription drugs to get high for the first time.
- One in five teens has abused prescription drugs.
- In 2016, 230 citizens died from an accidental overdose in Montgomery County.
Our staff is working with our mighty Learning Coaches to create a series of parent workshops that will offer tips and tricks to help our students and their families get the most out of their education at Agora. Attending school regularly has a huge impact on a student's academic success starting in kindergarten and continuing through high school. Even as children grow older and more independent, families play a key role in making sure students attend school every day and understand why attendance is so important for success in school and on the job!

As we end October, anti-bullying month, we wanted to remind you of the dangers of our cyber world.
