STUDENT LIFE SCHOOL COUNSELORS

Agora Cyber Charter School’s Counseling Department offers a comprehensive program for students in kindergarten through 12th grade. The program supports personal, social-emotional, academic, and career development.

First, counselors focus on individual student planning. They carefully consider the unique needs of Agora’s diverse community. As a result, each student receives personalized guidance and support.

In addition, Pennsylvania state-certified school counselors assist students at every level. They support elementary, middle, and high school students. They also help students explore postsecondary options.

Moreover, counselors advocate for student well-being. They serve as trusted resources for academic growth and future planning.

To meet student needs, counselors provide live programming and workshops. They also offer crisis prevention and intervention services. Furthermore, they hold individual meetings and facilitate small and large groups.

Many counselors have completed Youth Mental Health First Aid training. Therefore, they can respond quickly to students in need. In addition, they serve on Agora’s Student Assistance Program (SAP) team.

Notably, Agora is the nation’s first trauma-informed cyber school. All staff members receive trauma response training. However, school counselors manage the weekday crisis prevention room.

Finally, Agora counselors actively contribute to the professional counseling community. They presented at the American School Counselor Association National Conference in 2015 and 2018. They also presented at the Pennsylvania School Counselor Association Conference in 2018 and 2019.

In 2020, Agora counselors presented “School Counseling in an Online World.” Through this session, they helped brick-and-mortar counselors transition to online environments worldwide.
