Agora's Threat Assessment Team

Threat Assessment in Pennsylvania Schools

Pennsylvania law requires schools to create threat assessment teams, procedures, and reporting protocols. Additionally, these measures aim to prevent violent incidents before they occur.

Our Threat Assessment Approach

This year, our school will use a standard procedure called “threat assessment.” This process helps staff respond quickly to student threats of violence.

Our guidelines were carefully developed and tested. Moreover, thousands of schools nationwide have successfully adopted them.

How Threat Assessment Works

When a student communicates a threat, the threat assessment team evaluates its seriousness. They then decide how to prevent the threat from happening. In most cases, threats can be resolved safely without severe measures like expulsion.

Understanding the Student’s Needs

Often, threats show that a student feels frustrated, angry, or needs help solving a problem. Therefore, threat assessment aims to address the underlying issue and provide support.
