AGORA CYBER CHARTER SCHOOL EARNS MIDDLE STATES ACCREDITATION!
Agora is thrilled to announce that it has earned accreditation by the Middle States Association Commissions on Elementary and Secondary Schools, a worldwide leader in accreditation and continuous school improvement. Not only did Agora achieve this honor in only one year, but they did so with no future monitoring needed.
The process began with a self-study which pooled input from school leaders, teachers, coordinators, directors, family coaches, along with other staff, parents and students. Following the self-study, a team of volunteer educators from Middle States member schools conducted a virtual peer review visit including three days of interviews with students, employees, and families.
Middle States accreditation is a multifaceted evaluation process that school systems voluntarily use to demonstrate they are meeting a defined set of research-based performance standards. The 12 Middle States Standards for Accreditation are: mission; governance and leadership; school improvement planning; finances; facilities; school organization and staff; health and safety; educational program; assessment and evidence of student learning; student services; student life and activities, and information resources
Many Agora staff members played a role in this achievement, including Dr. Anne Butler and Holly Allen who spearheaded the process. As Holly so perfectly puts it, “Others are noticing the great things Agora is doing and how our successes might be adaptable to other schools. The accreditation process gave us the opportunity to celebrate what others are seeing and recommit to making our school even better!”
